To unlock all Mario Kart Wii Characters, Karts and Bikes it will require that you win first place in all the cups and race in Time Trails. You must beat the Time Trails regular staff ghost by 7 seconds to unlock the expert staff ghost data.
Unlocking Mario Kart Wii Characters
Mario Kart Wii features 26 character options to select from, including the 2 Mii outfits. The Mario Kart Characters listed below must be earn by completing the task described to be able to race them.
- King Boo: First Place in Win the 50cc Star Cup.
- Diddy Kong: Successfully complete all 50cc Cups.
- Baby Daisy: Get a “1 Star” rank or better in all 50cc cups.
- Rosalina: Get a “1 Star” rank or better in the 100cc Mushroom Cup. Option 2, play 50 VS matches with a Super Mario Galaxy save file on your Wii.
- Dry Bones: First Place Win in the 100cc Leaf Cup.
- Bowser Jr.: Get a “1 Star” rank or better in all 100cc Retro Cups.
- Mii's Outfit A: First Place Win in the 100cc Special Cup.
- Bowser: Get a “1 Star” rank or better in all 150cc Wii Cups.
- Dry Daisy: First Place Win in the 150cc Special Cup.
- Birdo: Play 16 different courses in Time Trials mode.
- Toadette: Play on all 32 courses in Time Trials mode.
- Baby Luigi: Unlock eight Expert Staff Ghost Data in Time Trials mode.
- Funky Kong: Unlock four Expert Staff Ghost Data in Time Trials mode.
- Mii's Outfit B: Unlock all 32 Expert Staff Ghost Data in Time Trials mode.
Unlocking Mario Kart Wii Karts
Getting the Karts require that you win the different cups by placing in first. In addition, you must beat the Time Trail regular staff ghost to unlock the expert staff ghosts. The Karts come in different sizes from small, medium and large. Mario Kart Wii characters will not be able to use any kart that is not correct for these size.

- Blue Falcon: Win the Mirror Lightning Cup. (Small Kart)
- Rally Romper: Unlock one Expert Staff Ghost Data in Time Trials mode. (Small Kart)
- Tiny Titan: Beat 50 opponents during Wi-Fi play or unlock one expert staff ghost. (Small Kart)
- Turbo Blooper: Win the 50cc Leaf Cup. (Medium Kart)
- Royal Racer: Win the 150cc Leaf Cup. (Medium Kart)
- B Dasher Mk 2: Unlock 24 Expert Staff Ghosts. (Medium Kart)
- Glory: Unlock 24 Expert Staff Ghost Data in Time Trials mode. (Medium Kart)
- Dragonetti: Win the 150cc Lightning Cup. (Large Kart)
- Piranha Prowler: Win the 50cc Special Cup. (Large Kart)
- Aero Glider: Get a “1 Star” rank or better in all 150cc Retro Grand Prix Cups. (Large Kart)

- Bubble Bike: First Place Win in the Mirror Leaf Cup. (Small Bike)
- Dolphin Dasher: First Place Win in the Mirror Star Cup. (Medium Bike)
- Magikruiser: Play on eight different courses in Time Trials mode. (Small Bike)
- Nitrocycle: Get a “1 Star” rank or better in all 100cc Wii Grand Prix Cups. (Medium Bike)
- Phantom: First Place Win in the Mirror Special Cup. (Large Bike)
- Quacker: First Place Win in the 150cc Star Cup. (Small Bike)
- Rapide: Win the 100cc Lightning Cup. (Medium Bike)
- Torpedo: Unlock 12 Expert Staff Ghost Data in Time Trials mode. (Large Bike)
- Twinkle Star: First Place Win in the 100cc Star Cup. (Large Bike)
Unlocking Bonus Cups
- Star Cup: Win at least 3rd place in Flower Cup and Mushroom Cup.
- Special Cup: Win at least 3rd place in Star Cup.
- Leaf Cup: Win at least 3rd place in Banana Cup and Shell Cup.
- Lightning Cup: Win at least 3rd place in Leaf Cup.
- Mirror mode: Reach 1st place in all cups at 150cc class.
Tips for Unlocking More Game Secrets
How to Get a Quick Start
Once the countdown starts, wait until the 2 begins to disappear, then hold button 2 to get a boost at the start of the race. It's all about the timing.
Get a Boost when recovering from a fall
Press 2 at the moment you hit the ground, you get a temporary boost. Once again it's all about the timing.
Avoid POW
To avoid being spun out, just shake the Wiimote or Wii Wheel when you are going to be hit with the POW. You will still lose any items that you had but you will not lose control.
Golden Wii Wheel
Use the wii wheel extensively in all the modes, when you go online a golden wii wheel will be next to your name.
Change Mii Racer weight class
Go into the Mii Channel and change your Mii drivers weight, which will have an in game impact causing you to change weight class and have different cars.
Alternate Title Screen and Ending Screen
Completing every single cup with a first place unlocks two new alternating Title Screens and one new Ending Photo.
