The Mario Kart Channel offers the players a chance to race in tournaments, check rankings and receive friend information.
Using the Mario Kart Channel
To use the Mario Kart Channel the player must follow these steps:
- Define their Internet connection settings and turn WiiConnect24 on. Click here to learn how to turn WiiConnect24 on
- Choose the Mario Kart Channel from the Wii Menu or the Main Menu and select the A button.
- If you selected the Mario Kart Channel from the Wii Menu, the Select License screen will appear. Select a license and press the A button.
- The Mario Kart Channel menu will appear. *The menu options include Friends, Ghosts, Rankings, Tournaments and any event information or notices will be displayed at the bottom.

Friends
Choose Find a Friend or Register a Friend. Here you can view your friend roster and join friends connected to Nintendo WFC. To find a friend you first need to register a friend to be able to play with them.
To register a friend, select "Register a Friend", add their 12 digit number, then select OK. If you want your friend to be able to register you make sure you provide them with your 12 digit number located on the bottom of the screen under your name.
Ghosts
On the Ghosts screen you have two options: a Ghost Race or Downloaded Ghosts. Ghost Races allow you to race against ghost from around the world. You complete with ghosts that are within your skill level. Your wins and losses are tracked. Note: Ghosts raced in this mode can not be saved to the downloaded ghost list.
On Downloaded Ghosts you can select the race track, "Start This Race", "Watch the Reply" or "Clear Ghost." You can download the ghost and then challenge them into a race. Note: Each license can save a max of 32 ghosts.
Rankings
You can check your rankings within the Friend, Regional and Worldwide rankings based on the track or the tournament by changing your ranking type located at the top of the screen of the ranking graph. Within the ranking screen you can watch replays of your Time Trail or ghost races. The center of the ranking graph represents the average ranking. Miis father to the left are the slower ones and the ones to the right show the faster ones. Miis are stacked vertically at throughout some areas on the graph indicate the number of people who ranked at that level.
Top 10
Check the records of the Top 10 players for the course or ranking currently being displayed. Note: You can't save the ghosts from anyone in the top 10.
Friend's race records are displayed here and automatically updated through WiiConnect24. When you select your friend's Miis, you have the following options:
- Send a Ghost Challenge - Send your ghost as a challenge.
- Replay - Watch a reply of your friend's ghost.
- Race - Compete against a friend's ghost in the Time Trail mode.
Note: You can only send a max of five challenges at once.
Your Mii on the Ranking Graph
You can view your ranking for the current displayed course. If you select your Mii, you can play the Time Trail or view a reply.
Rival Ghosts
Select rival ghosts to download and race against the worldwide and regional champion for the current course displayed. You can also view the replay.
Champion's Mii
Download and race against the worldwide and regional champion for the current course displayed or view the replay.
Tournament
Tournaments are held for a limited time. To play in a tournament, select Tournament from the Mario Kart Channel. Read the notices, then continue to select your character, vehicle and drift mode and press A. After you play in the tournament, which are usually races against time you can add your performance to the tournament rankings by selecting "Send your Record." Remember you can view your ranking.
